Coordinates a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students. Recruits students annually and conducts annual Academic Olympic competitions for students in 9th-12th grades in NAACP Branches throughout the country. First place local winners then compete with youth from other cities at the National ACT-SO finals held during our National Convention. Includes 26 categories of competition such as sciences, arts and humanities.
Operates an adult day program for adults with disabilities. Works on vocational, social, educational and specific individualized goals of each client. Each client’s transition IEP goals are continued after the student graduates from high school. Clients also take field trips to different destinations in King County.

Paratransit riders who have been found eligible can request trips one to seven (1-7) days in advance. Expect trips to be shared and take as long as a regular bus ride. Also expect to be picked up a little earlier or later so other rider’s trips can be added to the route. Use Access Paratransit to go anywhere within the same service area and at the same times that the regular public transit and light rail operates. Inter-county trips are available to/from neighboring counties within each county’s service areas.

Increases access to dental care throughout King County for children who have WA Apple Health (Medicaid). Once enrolled, provides assistance in finding a dentist that will fit location, timing and language preferences and assists in coordinating transportation and interpreter services. Website also provides lists of participating dentists by geographic area and includes Public Health dental clinics, community dental clinics and participating private dentists throughout King County. Additionally provides assistance in helping uninsured adults find low-cost dental services.
Provides accessibility consultation on a fee-for-service basis with respect to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Washington State codes to businesses and organizations. Evaluates and makes recommendations for agencies wishing to improve the physical, employment and program accessibility of their organizations. Trained volunteers accompany immigrants to legal or administrative appointments across Washington, offering moral support and assistance. Does NOT provide legal support. Types of appointments include: - Immigration or bond hearings (Seattle, Tacoma, NW Detention Center) - USCIS appointments (Tukwila, Yakima) - ICE check-ins, biometrics, or ankle monitor check-ins - State court hearings (family, domestic violence, DUI, traffic, other civil/criminal matters)

Cascade Bicycle Club brings people together to experience the joy of bicycling through transportation, recreation, and friendship, including our famous Seattle to Portland ride, which was virtual in 2020 due to COVID-19. We collaborate with members, volunteers, and community partners to inspire people to advocate for a safe, equitable, and sustainable Washington state. We build confidence, leadership, knowledge, and community by teaching bicycle skills to all ages. Board meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m.

Provides emergency housing for up to 30 days for high-risk and homeless youth prior to foster care or other placement. Offers counseling, life-skills groups, inter-agency school, recreation and case management. A case manager assists youth in applying for benefits. Youth in the program will be helped to stabilize, set goals, and move on to long-term housing situations or re-unify with family members. Reserves two beds for commercially sexually exploited youth.

Provides specialized care for young people with long-lasting conditions, such as eating disorders, obesity and chronic pain.
